One powerful example of why online safety is so crucial is the story of Carly Ryan, a 15-year-old girl who was tragically murdered by an online predator in 2007. Carly believed she was chatting with a teenage boy online, but it was a 50-year-old man posing as someone much younger. Her story is a heartbreaking reminder of how dangerous the online world can be for our children.
🌟 The Carly Ryan Foundation was established in her memory to educate, empower, and protect children from online predators and to provide resources and support for parents, educators, and young people.
Sadly, in 2023 over 30,000 cases of child abuse and neglect were substantiated in Australia, a 6% increase from the previous year.
